About Mieux Vivre en Ville:

Mieux Vivre en Ville is a working group of the Japan committee of the French Foreign Trade Advisors, dedicated to contemporary urban issues: city planning, mobility, environment, and neighborhood life, in France and in Japan

Maïa Maniglier — Présidente, Exprime Inc.

Our Mission:

With the conviction that people belong at the center of the broader conversation about tomorrow's cities, Mieux Vivre en Ville has worked since 2013 to identify priority trends and challenges for coming years, and to better share good urban practices between France and Japan — working toward sustainable, productive collaborations worldwide.

Backed by the French Embassy in Japan, Mieux Vivre en Ville is a working group of the Japan committee of the French Foreign Trade Advisors. Over 10 years and through multiple formats — major symposiums, bilingual publications, online exchange sessions — MVV has brought together more than 86 speakers from all backgrounds (embassies, ministries, elected officials, private companies, academics, NGOs), over 1,250 participants, and more than 244 pages published. Our ambition is to help find concrete, replicable, and original solutions for everyone working to improve urban life.

MVV 2026-2027: A Reflection Driven by Collective Intelligence:

In 2026, "Mieux Vivre en Ville" (Better Living in the City) launches a dialogue between CCE members, field practitioners, and young talents: shared experiences, cross-cutting perspectives, and exchanges across sectors.

The analyses and perspectives that emerge will be shared online throughout the year, then consolidated in an MVV review. Together, they form an operational corpus at the service of everyone who builds the city of tomorrow.

Smart, Sexy & Green, New themes for 2026-2027

MVV is a cross-cutting platform for exchange, bringing together diverse viewpoints to draw out shared lessons and concrete avenues for action. The 2026 approach gives younger generations a structuring role, and builds on the foundation laid by the 2013-2025 work:

  • Rethinking the sharing of public space and time

  • Building the infrastructure of the future

  • Optimizing resources

  • Plant-based solutions to make our cities both livable and sustainable

  • GREEN×EXPO Yokohama 2027 (Category A1 International Horticultural Exposition (March 19 to September 26, 2027).
